How to get e-books on Bookshelf

Step 1: Register

Click here to create a user profile. Upon registration an email notification will be sent indicating that you have been registered as a shopper on My Books. Please activate your account using the email sent.

Step 2: Sign In

Sign in after registration by entering the email address and password used during the registration process.

Step 3: Browse Content

Browse the site for products. Alternatively search for products by title, author or EAN. Products can be added to the Basket by selecting the product and then selecting Add to Basket. If you are done shopping and ready to complete the purchase, select Basket to view/amend the Basket and then select Check out to process payment.

Step 4: Payment

Local and international credit cards will be accepted. Enter your credit card details to process payment. An order confirmation as well as an invoice will be sent to your email address if payment was successful.

Step 5: Product Delivery

When an order has been processed successfully, you will receive an email for the eBook(s) sent to your online library. Access the eBook(s) using the link in the email or alternatively click here to login to view the eBook(s) in your online library.

Step 6: Reading Your Ebook

Before you can start reading, the correct software must be installed on your computer or device (refer to setups required below). Download the eBook to your computer before you can read the ebook.

Desktop/PC

  1. Register here to start buying on Bookshelf.
  2. Click here to download Adobe Digital Editions
  3. Click here to register for ADOBE Digital Editions ID.
  4. Activate your Adobe Digital Editions on your computer with your ADE registration details. Open ADE and go to ‘Help’ and then ‘Authorise Computer’.
    If you do not complete this step, you will not be able to open the acsm file that you downloaded.
  5. Once purchase is complete, click on the download link in the my e-books page to retrieve the product. Your product will be launched in Adobe Digital Editions.

If you change devices, you can still retrieve your product from your online library. And please note you will be able to view your product on up to 6 devices.

Android

  1. Register here to start buying on Bookshelf.
  2. Click here to register for ADOBE Digital Editions ID.
  3. Click on the link to download Mantano reader, Moon + or Aldiko
  4. Once purchase is complete, click on the download link in the my e-books page to retrieve the product. Your product will be launched in Adobe Digital Editions.

If you change devices, you can still retrieve your product from your online library. And please note you will be able to view your product on up to 6 devices.

iOS (MAC/iPad/iPhone)

  1. Register here to start buying on Bookshelf.
  2. Click here to register for ADOBE Digital Editions ID.
  3. Click here to download the Bluefire application.
  4. Once purchase is complete, click on the download link in the my e-books page to retrieve the product. Your product will be launched in Adobe Digital Editions.

FAQ's

  1. Where is my eBook?

    You will find your purchased e-books when you click on the my e-books toolbar.

  2. Can I read my eBook on a Kindle?

    Kindle books are the proprietary property of Amazon. The Amazon Kindle does not support DRM Encrypted e-books in PDF and ePUB format. Our e-books cannot be read from a Kindle. You can however read them on all Pc's, laptops, Android devices and e-readers.

  3. How many devices can I view my e-books on?

    Your eBook can be read on up to 6 devices if DRM (Digital Rights Management) has been applied.

  4. Can I download my eBook from work?

    Corporate restrictions might apply. This could restrict you from downloading your product. If you are experiencing difficulties please try at home or from a different network.

  5. Why can't I print or copy information from my eBook?

    Copy and print may be restricted if DRM has been applied. DRM protects the interest of the copyright holders.

  6. What is DRM?

    DRM is (Digital Rights Management). It is a form of encryption used to protect the publisher's and the authors copyrights. You can enable DRM on most devices, provided that you have a DRM account with Adobe Digital editions. Not all devices are compatible with DRM Encryption. Make sure your device is supported before making a purchase. You need to get an ADE (Adobe Digital Editions) account, which will enable you to read DRM books an most devices and Pc's.

  7. Can I share my eBook with my friends or family?

    No, because of the DRM (Digital Rights Management) applied.

  8. Can I return my eBook and request a refund?

    Your ebook cannot be returned once you have received your download URL.

  9. Can I buy this book if I live Outside of South Africa

    That will depend on the publisher of the book. If market restrictions apply, then you will not be able to purchase that book.
