Until the creation of LIV Golf, multiple golf tours around the world competed in a commercial marketplace dictated by the normal market forces of profit and loss. LIV is funded by a company committed to competing for top players with little expectation of a direct financial return. From a commercial standpoint, it is not a fair fight, and the PGA Tour rightly viewed LIV as an existential threat.
