| book description |
The Chinese Yearbook of Human Rights publishes a selection of peer reviewed Chinese journal articles from the perspectives of law, philosophy, political science, history, international relations and other relevant academic disciplines. The Yearbook was originally founded in cooperation with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2003. Due to the lack of funding, it was suspended for a few years, and was revived through a cooperation between the Institute for Human Rights at the China University of Political Science and Law, and the Center for Human Rights Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2021. Volume 7 of the Yearbook (2025) is an essential compilation of cutting-edge scholarship dedicated to understanding, interpreting, and protecting human rights in a rapidly evolving and increasingly complex global landscape. This volume offers a critical synthesis of contemporary human rights challenges from both theoretical and practical perspectives. It features a dedicated focus on interpreting rights in the digital age and implementing specific rights, such as the right to work and the right to be free from poverty. Furthermore, it revisits fundamental human rights theories and includes comparative studies on the practices of human rights institutions at the international, regional, and national levels, providing a comprehensive overview of the field's evolving landscape.
