| book description |
The second volume of this yearbook, issued by Germany's Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning, presents current projects by the German government in the fields of architecture, art, town planning, and area planning. The first section focuses on various constructions built abroad by the Federal Government, especially embassy and school buildings, such as the German Embassy and the German School, both in Peking -- a project by architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partner. In many cases the architects themselves introduce the history of their designs and present their constructions, illustrated by photographs and plans. The second section concentrates on planning and buildings in Berlin, and includes essays on the Federal President's residence, the Neue Wache, and Museumsinsel which detail the projects in Germany's new political center.
