Le Corbusier entwarf fÃ¼r die Tapetenfirma Salubra zwei Farbkollektionen: das Â«Clavier de couleursÂ» von 1931 mit 43 FarbtÃ¶nen und die Kollektion von 1959 mit 20 Farben. Er begnÃ¼gte sich nicht mit der Wahl von 43 FarbtÃ¶nen, die er auf seine Erfahrung als Architekt und Maler abstÃ¼tzte, vielmehr organisierte er die TÃ¶ne auf 12 Musterkarten so, dass mit einem Schieber jeweils drei bis fÃ¼nf Farben isoliert bzw. kombiniert werden kÃ¶nnen. Jede dieser Karten beinhaltete eine andersartige Farbstimmung, die in der Anwendung eine bestimmte Raumwirkung hervorrufen sollte. Damit war nicht nur ein nÃ¼tzliches Werkzeug geschaffen, sondern auch eine Art Testament der puristischen Farbenlehre entstanden. 1959 entstand die den verÃ¤nderten Vorstellungen angepasste zweite Kollektion mit 20 Unifarben, die auf einem einzelnen Â«ClavierÂ» zusammengefÃ¼gt wurden. Arthur RÃ¼egg, ETH-Professor und Le Corbusier-Spezialist, erforscht die Bedeutung der Salubra-Kollektionen fÃ¼r die Geschichte der modernen Architektur. Le Corbusier designed two collections of colors for the Salubra wallpaper company, the ""Clavier de couleurs"" of 1931, with 43 colors, and the 1959 collection, with 20. Not content with the choice of 43 colors drawn from his experience as an architect and painter, he organized the tones on 12 sample cards in such a manner that one could use a slider to isolate or combine different sets of three to five colors. Each of these cards contained a different chromatic atmosphere, intended, when used, to produce a particular spatial effect. Thus Le Corbusier not only created a useful tool but also a kind of testament of the purist theory of color. In 1959 he created a second collection reflecting the changes in his views, with 20 single colors assembled on a single ""clavier."" In the first volume, Arthur RÃ¼egg, a professor at the EidgenÃ¶ssische Technische Hochschule and a specialist in Le Corbusier, explores the significance of the Salubra collections for the history of modern architecture.
