In ihrer Dissertation taucht die Autorin tief in die Kontroverse der geschlechts-indifferenten Referenz, einer Thematik, die weltweit ins öffentliche Interesse gerückt ist, ein. Sie untersucht laienlinguistische Einstellungen frankophoner Studierender aus Frankreich, Belgien, der Schweiz und Québec in Bezug auf die zwei Grundprinzipien zur geschlechtsindifferenten Referenz: den generischen Gebrauch des Maskulinums und die geschlechtersensible Formulierung. Ziel ist es, herauszufinden, welches Grundprinzip Studierende bevorzugen. Ferner sollen gebiets- und geschlechtsspezifische Unterschiede in Bezug auf diese Einstellungen überprüft werden. Dafür wurde eine Online-Fragebogen-erhebung mit 1.000 Befragten durchgeführt, deren Ergebnisse qualitativ und quantitativ ausgewertet wurden.
