The approaches and methods applied in the volume involve primarily (socio)linguistic analyses describing the language situations in the Volga-Ural region. The analyses of the language situations are framed by an introductory essay outlining the volume's key concept - the language situation - while there are also two concluding essays exploring current tendencies and strategies in the language politics of the Federal centre. The book is written in cyrillic.
