Der Band dokumentiert die Beiträge eines Workshops im Rahmen des Projekts «Einstellungen gegenüber regionalen Sprachformen in der Großstadt: Niederdeutsch in Hamburg (NiH)». Im Mittelpunkt standen Möglichkeiten und Grenzen sprachbiographischer Analysen, wobei vornehmlich theoretische Grundlagen und Methoden diskutiert wurden. Eine wesentliche methodische Differenz besteht in der Fokussierung des Inhaltes von Sprachbiographien im Unterschied zur Fokussierung der sprachlichen Form und damit der Konstruktion von Biographien und Identitäten. So spielen sowohl inhalts- wie auch gesprächs- und narrationsanalytische Ansätze eine Rolle. Sprachbiographische Modellbildungen stehen neben exemplarischen Analysen von autobiographischen Erzählungen, die von Mehrsprachigkeit und Varietätenkontakt geprägt sind.
