In dieser Arbeit wird erstmalig anhand einer ausführlichen Untersuchung auf die Entwicklung der Klavierpädagogik Chinas eingegangen, angefangen vom ersten Klavierunterricht in der Missionarschule im Jahr 1881 bis hin zum aktuellen Piano Grading Test (PGT) im Jahr 2010 mit über 1 Million Teilnehmern in der ersten Dekade des 21. Jahrhunderts. Dafür wurden 58 Repertoiresammlungen (RS) von 13 Prüfungsinstituten der Jahre 1989 bis 2008 mit insgesamt 3853 Klavierwerken analysiert. Aufgezeigt werden seine Entstehungsgründe und Fehlentwicklungen sowie die staatlichen PGT-Organisationsstrukturen.
