Hierbei stehen besonders die Ansätze von Erich Fromm und Carl Rogers im Vordergrund, aber auch andere Ansätze, wie Interaktionstheorien und spieltherapeutische Bereiche kommen zur Sprache. Es soll ein Perspektivenwechsel gewagt werden: von der Parthogenese, dem Schielen und Fixieren von Negativaspekten, in Richtung Salutogenese voranzugehen, dem Wahrnehmen von potentiell Positivem: nennt man es nun Glück, Flow, Lebenskunst oder 'Emotionale Intelligenz'. Diesen Fluchtlinien wollen die Autoren theoretisch aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven nachfahren. Gelungenes Leben entsteht dann, wenn das Streben nach Freude verwirklicht wird. Ein gelungenes, also zufriedenes und glückliches Leben zu führen, hat viel mit seelischer und körperlicher Gesundheit zu tun, auch wenn es nicht vollständig identisch ist. Jeder von uns sehnt sich nach einem 'guten' Leben und nach 'Wohl-Sein', wo Raum für individuelle Spontaneität und Kreativität sowie eigenständige Weiterentwicklung/Exploration bleibt.
