In den letzten 150 Jahren veränderten sich unter dem Einfluß der Industrialisierung unsere Ernährungsgewohnheiten entscheidend. Auf diese Entwicklung reagierte eine Bewegung, die im ganzheitlich ausgerichteten Komplex der Lebensreform eingebunden war - die Ernährungsreform. Die vorliegende Studie gibt einen Ein- und Überblick in die Ernährungsreform, ihre Vertreter, Fragestellungen und Kritikansätze. Eng verbunden mit der Ernährungsreform entwickelte sich Ende des 19. Jhs. die Reformwarenwirtschaft als neuer Wirtschaftszweig mit gesunden und naturnahen Produkten. Am Beispiel der 1893 gegründeten genossenschaftlichen Obstbausiedlung Eden-Oranienburg bei Berlin und deren Reformwarenherstellung wurde der Entwicklung der Reformwarenwirtschaft sowie den Bemühungen um eine gesunde Ernährung in den letzten hundert Jahren nachgegangen.
