In dieser Studie werden neuere kognitiv-verhaltenstheoretische Modelle phobischer Ängste analysiert. Als kritisch erweist sich die unzureichende Berücksichtigung der je individuellen kognitiven Repräsentationen in entsprechenden empirischen Untersuchungen. Schematheoretische Modelle aus der Kognitionspsychologie werden auf ihren Beitrag zur Entwicklung und Veränderung dysfunktionaler Kognitionen hin betrachtet. In einer eigenen Untersuchung wird die kognitive Seite phobischer Ängste mit dem Kelly-Gitter als individuumzentrierten Verfahren im Therapieverlauf analysiert. Hierbei werden vor allem methodische Parameter der Therapien sowie der Therapieerfolg fokussiert. Weiter wird betrachtet, inwieweit Klienten und Klientinnen andere inhaltliche Schwerpunkte setzen als übliche Angstfragebögen.
