Nach einer ausführlichen kritischen Würdigung der Forschungsliteratur wird auf der Grundlage des kognitiven Modells Langackers und des Lyonsschen Entitätenmodells ein semantisches Verknüpfungsmodell entwickelt, das auf bidirektionalen Toleranzbeziehungen zwischen Matrixverb und Komplementstruktur beruht. Den Komplementstrukturen wird auf einer fein gegliederten Entitätenskala ein spezifischer Entitätenstatus als schematische Kategoriebedeutung zugewiesen. Zusätzliche prototypische, eher durch das Matrixverb bestimmte Bedeutungsaspekte werden als Familienähnlichkeiten interpretiert.
