Die vorliegende Arbeit entstand wahrend meiner Tatigkeit als wissenschaftlicher Mitar- beiter am Fraunhofer-Institut fur Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung (IP A), Stuttgart. Mein besonderer Dank gilt dem ehemaligen Leiter des IP A und derzeitigen Prasidenten der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Herm Professor Dr.-Ing. Dr. h. c. mult. Hans-Jiirgen Warnecke, fur seine wohlwollende Unterstiitzung und Forderung der Arbeit. Herm Professor Dr.-Ing. Gisbert Lechner danke ich fur die Durchsicht der Arbeit und fur die Obemahme des Mitberichts. Aus dem Kreis der Kollegen am Institut, die mich durch ihre Mitarbeit und anregende Kritik unterstlitzt haben, mochte ich die Herren Dr.-Ing. Bernhard Klumpp, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h. c. Rolf Dieter Schraft sowie Dr.-Ing. Manfred Schweizer besonders hervorheben. Auch sollen die Hiwis, Diplomarbeiter und Praktikanten nicht unerwahnt bleiben, die mich wahrend dieser Zeit tatkraftig unterstlitzt haben. Bei ihnen allen bedanke ich mich herzlich. Ein ganz besonderes Dankeschon gilt meinem ehemaligen Kollegen Herm Dr.-Ing. Elmar Degenhart, der auch in schwierigen Zeiten ermutigende Worte gefunden hat, sowie meinen Freunden Dr.-Ing.
