English summary: This book locates the Gospel of Mark between Vespasian's seizure of power and a dispute about the role of the gentiles in the Christian community. In the first chapter, the author argues that a particular reading of the Gospel is necessary to comprehend the specific narrative structure. He shows that Mc 1.35-45 should be viewed as part of the Easter narrative. The apparently abrupt end and unusual structures of the Gospel thus reflects the idea that having reached the end of the text does not imply having finished reading it. Rather, the reader has to go back to the beginning. In this way, Mark broaches the issue of the gentiles' community membership in the context of Jesus' life. Starting from the observation that an excluded leper represents the paschal community, the second chapter asks whether the expulsion of a Christian community by the Jews triggered the dispute about the role of the gentiles. The third chapter concludes the book by relating the story of Jesus to the triumph of the gentiles over the Jews, as it is represented in contemporary narratives of Vespasian. German description: Der Text des Markusevangeliums endete ursprunglich mit der Erzahlung vom leeren Grab. Berichte uber die Erscheinung Jesu vor den Jungern schienen zu fehlen. Im 2. Jh. n.Chr. hangte man dem Evangelium daher notdurftig ein Ende an, das dem Bedurfnis nach einem abgerundeten Schluss der Erzahlung, versehen mit einem Erscheinungsbericht, Rechnung trug. Dabei ignorierte man, dass auch das Markusevangelium von der Erscheinung Jesu erzahlt. Der Evangelist hat diesen Erscheinungsbericht allerdings im Beginn des Textes verborgen. Die vorliegende Untersuchung zeigt in ihrem ersten Kapitel, dass die Erzahlstrukturen des Evangeliums ein eigenwilliges Lekturekonzept voraussetzten. Am Ende des Textes angelangt haben die LeserInnen das Ende der Erzahlung noch gar nicht erreicht. Sie mussen die Lekture am Beginn des Textes fortsetzen. Das Motiv fur diese Textanordnung durfte in Auseinandersetzungen zwischen Juden- und Heidenchristen innerhalb der markinischen Gemeinde zu suchen sein. Die Zugehorigkeit der Heiden zur Jesusgemeinschaft war fraglich geworden. Der Evangelist trug die nachosterliche Geschichte der Heiden daher in die Geschichte Jesu ein. Ausgehend von der Beobachtung, dass im Markusevangeliums ausgerechnet ein ausgegrenzter Aussatziger die osterliche Gemeinde reprasentiert, geht das zweite Kapitel der Frage nach, ob die Exilierung einer christlichen Gemeinde durch die Juden den Streit uber die Heidenchristen ausgelost hat. Das dritte Kapitel setzt die Schilderung der Jesusgeschichte in Beziehung zum Triumph der Heiden uber die Juden in Person des Kaisers Vespasians.
