Um 1280 im Auftrag des franzÃ¶sischen Kardinals Jean Cholet entstanden, weist sie ein fÃ¼r Bologna typisches Dekorationssystem auf, das auf Pariser Modelle zurÃ¼ckgreift. Die malerische Ausgestaltung des Codex hebt sich durch zwei Charakteristika hervor: durch eine Ansammlung antiker Motive sowie einen Malstil, der das akkurate Studium byzantinischer Kunst der frÃ¼hen Palaiologenzeit zur Voraussetzung hat. Die Studie beschreibt die Modi der Adaption Ã¶stlicher wie westlicher Motive und Stile und stellt einen Buchmaler vor, der sowohl intellektuell als auch kÃ¼nstlerisch mit seinem Bildrepertoire spielerisch umzugehen weiÃŸ.
