Das Transformationskonzept wurde bisher nahezu ausschlieÃŸlich von den Akteuren und ihren Intentionen her gedacht, die als Ausgangspunkt und Grundlage historischen Sinns und mÃ¶glicher Ordnungen des Wandels angesehen wurden. DemgegenÃ¼ber wurden ZufÃ¤lle lediglich als Symptome eines mangelnden Wissens verstanden, denen ein eigenstÃ¤ndiges Handlungspotenzial nicht zukommt. Im Gegensatz dazu wird in dem Band erkundet, - ob und in welcher Weise Transformationen von Zufallsfunden, unbeabsichtigten Nebenfolgen oder Ã¼berraschenden Wendungen bestimmt sind, - welchen Transformationen die contingentia selbst unterliegt, die in ihrer Verbildlichung (als Tyche, Fortuna u. a.), aber auch in ihrer historischen Semantik in Theologie und Philosophie seit der Antike bis in die jÃ¼ngste Gegenwart bemerkenswerten VerÃ¤nderungen unterlag, - welcher spezifische Umgang mit Kontingenz in sozialen und politischen Prozessen, aber auch in Literatur und Kunst zu beobachten ist. Von besonderem Interesse ist dabei die Unterscheidung von Risiko und Gefahr (Luhmann).
