Die Beschäftigung mit Wortarten erzwingt stets die Definition und die Reflexion der Kriterien zu ihrer Bestimmung. Obwohl die Wortarten traditionellerweise zum Handwerkszeug eines jeden Grammatikers gehören und sie curricular fest in der Schulausbildung verankert sind, so zeigen sich doch relativ schnell Probleme bei ihrer Kategorisierung. Von besonderem Interesse sind hier die nicht-flektierenden Wortarten, denn ihre Form macht wenig Aussagen über ihre Wortart. Im Falle der nicht-flektierenden Wortarten sind zu ihrer differenzierten Bestimmung daher andere als morphologische Kriterien notwendig. Die Beiträge in diesem Sammelband gehen der Analyse und der Klassifikation der nicht-flektierenden Wortarten aus verschiedenen Perspektiven nach: der Konstruktionsgrammatik, der deskriptiven Linguistik, der formalen Semantik und der generativen Linguistik.
