El periodo barroco ofrece unas especiales condiciones para poder realizar la observación nítida de la práctica ingeniosa. Concretamente, a lo largo del siglo XVII, el ingenio cobra una total preeminencia en las obras canónicas del conceptismo literario, elevando la práctica de la escritura - especialmente la poética - a una flexibilidad retórica que rompía con el modelo heredado del Renacimiento. El presente libro ofrece una visión de conjunto a través de la cual se divisa la relación existente entre la práctica ingeniosa y los valores que ésta tiene tanto desde un punto de vista estético como filosófico. De igual manera, pretende ahondar en el diálogo establecido entre la creación literaria y el discurso filosófico, precisamente con el fin de situar a la facultad ingeniosa dentro de un marco de acción en el cual ambos discursos se van a ver reconocidos. Por último, se trazará un recorrido general por algunas de las poéticas y obras literarias españolas que no solo elevaron el ingenio a la categoría de auténtica episteme hispana, sino que lo señalaron como el eje vertebral de todo un modelo de cultura.
