Si le statut de l'oeuvre d'art ne semble pas être remis en question par ces nouveaux modes de présentation, l'éclatement des limites muséales soulève toutefois diverses interrogations. Quelles interactions existe-t-il entre l'oeuvre d'art et son espace d'exposition ? Ces lieux s'adressent-ils à un public particulier ? Et quel impact ces dispositifs ont-ils sur notre perception/réception des oeuvres ainsi exhibées? C'est à ces questions que le colloque, « Les lieux d'exposition et leurs publics », tenu en 2011 à Neuchâtel et Bienne, a cherché de répondre en réunissant des spécialistes du monde académique, des musées ou encore du marketing. Das Museum wurde lange Zeit als der Ausstellungsort schlechthin angesehen. Seit einigen Jahren tritt es jedoch immer häufiger in Konkurrenz mit alternativen Ausstellungsorten. Wenngleich der Status des Kunstwerks durch die neuen Präsentationsformen nicht in Frage gestellt zu sein scheint, wirft der Aufbruch musealer Grenzen verschiedene Fragen auf. Welche Wechselwirkung entsteht zwischen dem Kunstwerk und seinem Ausstellungsort? Wenden sich diese Orte an ein spezielles Publikum? Welchen Einfluss haben diese Dispositive auf unsere Perzeption/Rezeption der hier ausgestellten Werke? Das Kolloquium «Ausstellungsorte und ihr Publikum», das in 2011 in Neuenburg und Biel stattfand, brachte Experten aus Hochschule, Museum und Marketing zusammen, um Antworten auf diese Fragen zu finden.
