Studies in the Gospels

By (author) Alan Jenkins

| book description |

The book is a study of the gospels, not a verse by verse commentary, but an overview of the recorded events as written by each writer, focussing on the writers view and emphasis of events recorded. The gospel of John for instance looks at each character encountered, the situation prevailing and the outcome of the encounter, whilst the gospel of Mark looks at different events with suggested headlines that may be used in sermons, lessons for the young and old, or teaching on issues such as morality, divorce, community responsibility, treatment of neighbours, faith, belief in God etc. The gospels of Matthew and Luke are looked at from a similar view ie. focussing on the salient features as record by each writer and their particular emphasis on what took place and the outcome of the dealings of the Saviour for the individuals involved. Thus the book is suitable for the students of biblical records, not requiring high academic knowledge or particular language capability, but an interest in events in the life of Jesus Christ and the purpose of his coming into this world.
