Including a substantial introduction, a critical theoretical foreword from one of the leading experts in the field, and accompanied by 50 rare archival images, the essays in this volume showcase, analyse and interrogate these images, and in so doing challenge and reflect on the distinction between 'war photography' and 'colonial photography'.
