Faultfinding in Computers and Digital Circuits: Testing and Measuring
By (author) Wolfgang Matthes
| book description |
This book is concerned with the craft of fault-finding, measurement and testing in modern electronic systems and devices, which are primarily digital. The typical 'IBM-compatible' personal computer (PC) can serve as an example of these devices. The knowledge and technical skills needed to put such equipment into service, and to maintain it in good working order, go beyond the level of simple self-help tips and basic measurements. Furthermore, a purely theoretical understanding of the technology is not adequate: the experienced service engineer or technician can be recognised by his understanding of the limitations of his test equipment, his familiarity with the subtleties and problem areas of the technology, and above all by the fact that he knows how to deal with real-life faults. The book is primarily aimed at PC users, service technicians, PC hobbyists and persons who are responsible for their firm's PC systems, but it will be useful for students and vocational trainees.
